Born in the seaside town of Trani, the pearl of the south Puglia, Italy, Vincenzo di Cugno has spent the most part of his life so far immersed in rich, traditional Italian culture. Surrounded by the Adriatic Sea, his home region is well-known for wines, mozzarella and a revered variety of seafood including octopus and sea urchins, red prawns Mazzancolle and more.
Moving to Australia in 2014 brimming with hospitality experience, Vincenzo brought with him an enthusiasm and commitment to creating an authentic Italian dining experience in his chosen new home of Port Douglas.
Working at Sassi La Cucina for over 8 years, holding the position of Restaurant Manager and eventually taking on ownership in 2021, Vincenzo has excelled. He is surrounded by a team of like-minded Italian hospitality professionals, whose aim it is to share their knowledge of Italian food and wine and of course, ‘la dolce vita’.
Vincenzo prides himself on the customer experience, ensuring a consistent high quality in food and service, a relaxed ambience and the warmest of Italian hospitality all combine together to create a wonderful dining experience for every visitor.
